Fans of womens MMA have been talking about the possibility of this fight for quite some time. Gina Carano has already been recognized by many as the face of womens MMA, while Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos has rapidly been gaining attention as a top contender.

Although the fight has not officially been scheduled yet, Gina hinted in a recent interview with Beatdown Radio that it will probably happen in August. Although other offers have come Gina's way, she is only interested in taking on Cyborg at this point.

"Before I can even think about anybody else," Gina explained to Beatdown Radio, "I just can’t fit another opponent in my mind without getting that one done.”

Now, as far as predictions, MMA fans are pretty conflicted on this one and there does not yet seem to be a clear favorite. Carano is of course the more popular fighter, but Cyborg is certainly a force to be reckoned with.

If it were a beauty contest, and not a brawl, clearly the undisputed victor would be Ms. Carano. However, once these two young ladies step into the ring together, it will surely be an all-out slugfest, and Cyborg is not likely to be gentle with Carano's charming smile.

The fight will be put on by Strikeforce, if and when it takes place. Strikeforce recently purchased the contracts of several of the now defunct Elite XC organization. Hopefully they give Carano a raise, since she was only paid $25,000 for her primetime CBS television bout against Kelly Kobold last year (a fraction of what some male fighters are paid that draw less attention to the sport than Carano).
