Liverpool's own Paul Sass, a purple-belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist also quite proficient in Muay-Thai, is on his way to competing in the world's largest fighting organisation, the UFC.
With 10 wins and zero losses under his belt (nine of them via submission), the man who has adopted the nickname "Sassangle" is expected to bring fresh excitement to the lightweight division. Sass hails from Team Kaobon, the gym which is also home to fellow Liverpudlians Terry Etim and Paul Kelly. Kaobon is rapidly becoming one of the most notorious MMA gyms in the country.
At only 21 years old, Paul Sass stands at 1.85m (6' 1") and weighs in at 70kg (155 lbs). He is strong, incredibly agile, and also intimidating, thanks to his undefeated record consisting mainly of swift submissions.
It is expected that Sass will make his UFC debut in October when UFC 120 comes to the O2 Arena in London. His challenger has yet to be announced. His initial contract with the UFC has him signed on for four fights.
If you haven't yet had the pleasure of watching Sass compete (and aren't patient enough to wait until October), check out the following video of Paul Sass vs David Johnson, Sass's first professional fight that took place at Cage Gladiators 4 on the 5th of August, 2007.
You can expect the quality of Sass's fight videos to improve as his career gains mainstream attention!
